After adjusting the alloy composition, proceed with sodium remover as follows:
Dross Removal: First, skim the dross from the surface of the molten aluminum.
Charge Sodium Remover: When the molten aluminum temperature reaches 720°C–760°C, load the sodium romover into the powder injector.
Injection Process: Using 99.99% nitrogen as the carrier gas, inject the sodium remover into the molten aluminum via the injection lance. Submerge the lance to the bottom of the melt and move it uniformly in a horizontal pattern, paying special attention to furnace dead zones to ensure thorough reaction between the sodium remover and molten aluminum. This injection step takes approximately 15 minutes.
Stirring and Settling: After injection, stir the melt thoroughly and allow it to settle for about 5 minutes.
Final Dross Skimming: Skim the surface dross again to complete the sodiun removal cycle. Then take samples for analysis. If the sodium content exceeds the standard, repeat the above process once. When the sodium content is below 100 ppm, the dosage of calcium remover should be increased as appropriate. The lower the calcium content, the greater the treatment difficulty, hence the dosage should be increased accordingly.
